Paddles with Seals

This summer a couple of our staff members decided to venture out on a sea kayaking trip in the Abel Tasman national park in New Zealand. Utilizing a tracking device, we were able to plot their travel in real time and watch them paddle across the bay from Kaiteriteri to Anchorage Hut. Fortunately, our staff had excellent weather and fine seas so there was no need to push the emergency beacon.

In the map below, you can see where our staff paddled across the bay on their first day and spent an hour at Adele Island watching seal pups play in the shallow water.

On day 2, you can see where they got up early and did a hike out to Cleopatra Falls. They then packed up the boats and hopped in for the paddle back to Kaiteriteri.
